The tourism industry is steadily rebounding after three years of the Covid-19 outbreak, according to Nanthasiri Ronnasiri, director of the Tourism Authority Office.

This can be viewed as a lagging indicator of the nation’s expanding economy, she continued.

The lack of labor in the tourism sector, according to Ms. Nanthasiri, presents a barrier for many operators who are still recovering from the pandemic.
High airfares, according to Thaneth Tantipiriyakij, president of the Phuket Tourist Association (PTA), could impede the recovery going ahead. Energy and inflation are two variables that have raised prices.

Flights Prices Too High To Phuket City

One major concern that can halt Phuket’s boast in tourism is flights tickets. Currently a one-way flight ticket to Phuket can coast up to 6,000 – 7,000 baht according to Bangkok Post news. As prior to 2019 a one-way flight can cost passengers between 3,000 – 4,000 baht.

However, authorities in Thailand are talking to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to reduce flights tickets and also to increase flights capacity to Phuket.

Phuket new international airport can handle up to 480 flights a day. On Monday during the high season Phuket handle up to 200 flights a day. Prior to Monday the airport receive up to 100 flights a day. As more direct international flights coming to Phuket, it can boast up more tourism and the ultimate question arise where do I stay in Phuket for a short-term or long-term, to run away from the cold weather.
